I was just thinking about Michael tonight, and looked him up online. I was so very sad to see that he had left us. I was fortunate to have studied with Michael for three years in the mid to late 1980s, and then again briefly in 2003. Michael taught me so many valuable lessons about acting and life, lessons that I now try to pass on to my acting students at the University of Northern Colorado. In my experience with Michael, he was a gracious, kind, sometimes tough, and always passionate acting teacher--all wonderful attributes for acting and for life. He loved the theatre so much, and was constantly emphasizing, though not explicitly, how the theatre enriches us, both performers and audience. He was a great, great man of the theatre, and I will always be indebted to him for what he taught me.

Michael was an astute and caring acting teacher, and had the honor of studying with him in the 1990s, and was pleased to know Betty as well. My condolences to the family.
