In 1926, G.B. Perazzo erected the funeral home establishment at 199 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. It was without exception the finest and most complete and modern funeral home in New York City. It was not a converted townhouse, but a newly constructed building, architecturally designed as a funeral home. This was during a time when most wakes took place in the homes of the departed.
Since then, Peter DeLuca, the owner, has expanded immensely upon the proud and reputable tradition of the facility. With every attention to detail, the facilities have been impeccably renovated, restored, and beautifully furnished.
Greenwich Village Funeral Home is designed like a luxurious Manhattan residence with high ceilings, fully restored prewar architecture, and maintained with impeccable cleanliness and care. Through the use of carefully selected colors, fabrics and furniture style, our furnishings were designed to soothe and calm the spirit.
Our main entrance and comfortable lobby welcomes families and friends…
We have a vast selection of specially designed background music, even subtle aromatherapy to help relax you and your guests. In addition, we offer HD TV Screens for presenting videos, Wi-Fi access for easy connections to the Internet, an elevator and other modern amenities such as Siriux XM radio, wireless microphones, etc.. Although it is classic in design, it is truly a state of the art facility.
The Funeral Home is a true landmark on Bleecker street and in Greenwich Village. Adorned with Stained Glass windows and a convenient awning, visitors feel reassured as they approach the main entry.
At night, our entrance is beautifully lit with four lanterns located on the building’s original, restored limestone facade. A pair of decorative planters containing manicured boxwoods surrounded by English ivy greet family and friends as they arrive.
