Obituary of James Richard Condon
July 20, 2020
On Monday July 20, 2020 James Richard Condon, 67, loving husband and father died peacefully at home. Jim was born in the Bronx and was part of a large, energetic family. He had 6 siblings who were strongly bonded by love and loyalty. Jim graduated from Marist College and started a career in medical sales. He married Margot Keegan in 1978 and they enjoyed a strong marriage for 42 years. They had two sons, Sean and Neil, who were, and still are, the focal point of their lives.
Jim's neurological issues started in 2003. He continued to persevere in living life in the manner he chose. Unable to continue working in medical sales due to his disability, he became a security guard at Friends Seminary. He worked there for 10 years and enjoyed his interactions with students and teachers at the school.
In 2014 he required 24-hour care due to his deteriorating neurological status. He remained home until his death, expertly cared for by his home health aide, Kakhaberi Sharabidze, or as he liked to be called "Mike". During that time, he was surrounded by his family. His sister Cathy McMahon, and brothers Dan and Jerry were constant supports and did what they could to ensure his comfort. His sister-in-law, Donna Connelly, and daughters-in-law, Zoe Scott and Natasha McGregor, often visited and added joy and laughter to the home. Elin Condon, Jim's granddaughter, was frequently present at his side and gave him great pleasure.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Ed Condon, and by his siblings, Mary Ellen Hamilton, Michael Condon, and Eddie Condon, whom he sorely missed.
Jim had an enigmatic personality and was known for his wry humor and witticisms. He was chatty with neighbors and known by some as the mayor of Stuy Town. We will miss him everyday and carry him in our hearts forever.
