Obituary of Mr. Wolodymyr Myron Starosolsky

August 10, 2021

Wolodymyr Myron Starosolsky was born in Ukraine on June 30, 1938. He immigrated to the United States with his mother in 1949, due to the war. Wolodymyr followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Volodymyr Starosolsky, his namesake, and became a lawyer. He obtained his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of Law.

Wolodymyr always had a desire to help people. He specialized in litigation and took great pride in his work. He's known for having a brilliant mind and loving a great challenge. He completed a lot of pro bono work in the beginning of his career, and even in his later years as an attorney, did not require payment from those who were less fortunate.

Wolodymyr had a charismatic personality and was known in different circles as Val, Star, Odik, and Dad, to name a few. He enjoyed swimming, playing chess, and singing. He recorded a record in Ukrainian in his earlier days, and most recently some songs in English, singing about the current political times.

He was a father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Wolodymyr will be remembered for his charisma, wit, unforgettable sense of humor, love for music and singing, and most of all always being himself.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in lieu of a service, Wolodymyr's family has chosen to honor him by making a donation in his name to the U.S. Ukraine Foundation. The U.S. Ukraine Foundation supports the development of democracy, a free-market economy and human rights in Ukraine, and the strategic partnership between the U.S. and Ukraine.

To make a donation in his name, please send funds to the below address and write "Starosolsky" in the memo:
