Obituary of Virginia Jarczynski
September 21, 2021
Virginia (Jinny) Marie Howlett was born on September 28, 1929 to George and Helen Howlett and was raised with her siblings, George, Grace and Bob. She trained and served with excellence as a registered nurse at St Vincent's Hospital in the West Village of NYC and then later in Huntington, NY where she raised her family. Jinny was married to Gerard Jarczynski for 38 years. They raised their three adopted children, Karen, Chris and John, in Huntington, instilling the importance and joy of family, friends, hospitality, adventure and community service, including decades of an exchange program between East Harlem, the Bronx and their local Long Island Community. After her husband died in 1990, Mom moved to the West Village, where she lived a very active and independent life while running the business her husband had started many years earlier. For decades she attended adult education classes at Fordham University and was actively involved in the many community activities at Francis Xavier Church on 15th Street, including The Mission. All that knew her were in awe of her energy and ability to make those around her feel at ease. Jinny is survived by two of her children, Karen and John as well as John's three children, Calvin, Tim and Jennifer, a great grandchild from Jennifer named Kinsley Rose, as well as her dear brother Bob Howlett.
In lieu of flowers, or simply to honor Jinny, please consider a donation to Xavier Mission where she was involved for many years.
