Obituary of Miklos Zsedely

January 21, 2022

Miklos Zsedely passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at age 64 on January 21 surrounded by his loving family, his wife, and his mother. Miklos was born on October 1st, 1957, in Kingston, New York to his Hungarian immigrant parents. Later he moved to New York City, where he became a musician, a free-spoken artist, as he saw himself "an open-eyed ('szemfüles') survivor". In his later years, Miklos flourished in a second career working proudly as the owner and manager of the 10 Thousand Steps Hungarian Bookstore & Pilvax Art Center in the East Village where he helped not only the Hungarian-American community but also the local people and his neighborhood. He was an extraordinary fighter for social justice and an amazingly loyal human being and friend. He is remembered every day by his friends and family. Miklos had a sense of humor that lit up any room, and his wife hopes to continue his legacy by starting a charity in his honor.
There will be a memorial service held at the Greenwich Village Funeral Home on March 6 at 11:00 AM.
The family is asking for thoughts and prayers as they grieve.

I'm sorry we fell so far out of touch. It was cool being in a couple bands with Mikky.
