Obituary of Jessica Greenberg

December 24, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear family member and friend of many, Jessica Greenberg.  Jessica lived a full and vibrant life on her own terms, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

Jessica is the older daughter of the late Erwin and Marjorie Greenberg and is survived by her sister Ellen Tilzer and beloved cousin Margot Green.    Jessica was born in New York City on May 23, 1940, grew up in Lawrence, Long Island and graduated from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio.    She lived her entire adult life as a resident of Manhattan where she had a long and successful career in the retail and apparel industries over many decades.

Jessica was a devoted friend with a zest for life, maintaining the kind of vibrant life-long relationships we should all be fortunate to have. Always exploring the latest and greatest Manhattan had to offer, her passion for gathering at one of her favorite spots with friends over a good meal was unmatched.

Summers found Jessica in her beloved Hamptons on Long Island, where she was an enthusiastic golfer and was fortunate to live with Cousin Margot for many years.  There she spent warm, joyful days with her many friends, creating memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those surviving her.

Jessica also relished her unique role as the authoritative voice of what to do – and not do - in NYC for her beloved family living in the suburbs and other cities. Jessica’s definitive opinion of the latest developments in food and fashion was ready on demand and always challenged us to try things we wouldn’t be inclined to do without her encouragement.    She never missed a holiday or birthday gift, expressing her deep affection for all of us through the things she determined would look good on us or we should like otherwise. These tokens of love were but a glimpse of the immense caring and concern she carried within her.

Jessica's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. But, as we navigate through this difficult time, we will find comfort in remembering her vibrant spirit, her strong will and the countless memories we were privileged to create with her.

Let us celebrate Jessica's life and remember her for the incredible person she was: a beacon of individuality, a devoted friend, a loving "cool aunt", a passionate golfer, and a generous soul who lived life to the fullest on her own terms.
