Obituary of Bennett Thomas Williams, PhD
September 6, 1991 – July 4, 2023

Bennett Williams – Beloved son, brother, fiancé, and friend passed away in New York City on the evening of July 4, 2023. He is survived by his parents Edward and Kaye Williams of Whitmore Lake, MI, his fiancée Amita Chundu of New York City, his brother Harrigan Williams and two sisters Laura Mulryan and Emily Tokarz. Bennett also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, five nephews and many friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Bennett graduated from Robinson High School in Robinson, IL and continued his education, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois. In 2019 Bennett completed his PhD in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Michigan. He loved to learn and never did anything the easy way - post graduation he decided to pursue a career in financial services instead, in New York City. Bennett began his career at Macquarie Holdings as a quantitative analyst, where he rose to associate. In March of 2022, he moved to Point72 where he was a quantitative research analyst for the fund’s macro business.

Bennett had a passion for reading, traveling, and spending time outdoors hiking with family and his dog Artie. He was known for his sharp and playful sense of humor, his spontaneity, his integrity and of course, his unparalleled sweet tooth. He was a driven, curious, fast learner who remembered the smallest details of a perfect stranger. Bennett truly had a kind, selfless, and generous heart. May he rest in peace.

Bennett and his life will be celebrated in a small memorial at his parent’s home in Michigan with friends and family. At the end of July, he will also be celebrated by friends and family in New York City.
