Obituary of Judith Graff

December 17, 2020

On December 17, 2020, Judith Graf, known to friends and family as Mom, Grams and Judy, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in her home. Judy, who was 93-years-old, lived life on her terms: independently and in her way, up until the end, on her own for almost 9 years after she was widowed. She was born and raised in The Bronx, NY, where she met her husband, Irwin. After getting married on November 30, 1947, they moved into Manhattan where they raised their family. Judy lived in Stuyvesant Town for approximately 72 years, in the same apartment for 69 of those years.

Judy was the beloved mother of Barbara Smith and Nancy Braverman, grandmother to David Braverman and his wife Rachel, Marcie Braverman and her fiancé Eric Breitman, and Jessica Kaufman and her husband Scott. She was the great grandmother to Jackson, Liv, and Jagger Braverman, as well as to Ian and Ryan Kaufman. She was also mother-in-law to Sandy Braverman, who will terribly miss calling her every Saturday morning with a "Good Shabbos" call, which she loved and looked forward to very much. Judy was also an aunt to Pamela Goldberg, Matthew Cohen - who thought of her as a second mother - and Donald Testa.

Judy was a vibrant and beautiful woman who will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched. We mourn her death but celebrate her life and legacy. We are grateful she wasn't taken by Covid-19 or any other debilitating condition. We'll remember and talk about her forever.
