Obituary of John D. Lacorazza

John Daniel Lacorazza, 96 of New York, New York, passed away, Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, New Jersey.
A private celebration of his life was held at St. Patrick's Basilica on Thursday, January 14, 2021. His cremains will be interred at St Patrick's columbarium, joining his wife Elena (Ellie) of 70 years who had passed away prior in 2017. Memorial donations may be made to the John D. John was born September 4, 1924 on Sullivan Street, New York City, New York to Donato and Francesca (Romano) Lacorazza. He graduated from St. Anthony's grammar school and went to the local public high school only to leave to join the seminary. After a brief time in the seminary he then enlisted in the army and fought in World War II in the 10th Mountain Division. After the war ended he arrived home and continued his romance with Elena (Ellie) Iannacone, a childhood friend who lived on the same street. On August 25, 1946 they married, had three sons and continued to live on Sullivan Street as husband and wife for over 70 years. John worked at his family's butcher shop at first and then went on to work at various supermarkets including and retiring from Shop-Rite. He spent most weekends and vacations with his family at their vacation home in Hopatcong, New Jersey.
John is survived by his three sons: John Stephen Lacorazza and his wife Donna; Daniel Anthony Lacorazza; Stephen Anthony Lacorazza and his partner Robert Goldsworthy; three grandchildren, Allison (Lacorazza) and her husband Anthony Fazio; Jonathan Lacorazza and one great grandchild, Anthony John (AJ) Fazio.
