Mamirma

On Sat April 17, 2021, Irma Navarrete, affectionately known as Mamirma. Loving mother and grandmother was called home at the age of 84.

Irma was born in Guayaquil Ecuador June 15, 1936. She arrived in NYC in 1969 where she raised her four children. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Gina Herrera and survived by her three children, Yusee Herrera, Sara Valencia, and Carlos Urriola.

Irma was passionate about cooking, dancing and music. She lived life vivaciously and her love for people was passed down to her family. She was a voracious reader and could often be found with the New York Times in hand. Fond memories are shared of her dancing around the kitchen while preparing meals for her family gatherings. She loved her family well and was very proud of each one of her children and Grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family, the glue that held it together. She was passionate about fairness and treating others with respect. She was a leader in generosity. Mamirma left a legacy of love and will be remembered for her kindness. Her smile will forever be engrained in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Sunday April, 25, 2021 at 2:00pm to 7:00pm
