Obituary of John Clark Hood

John Clark Hood died peacefully at his home in Greenwich Village on December 2, 2025. Born in Pocatello, Idaho, he graduated from high school in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1945, served in the Naval Reserve from 1945-46, graduated from Notre Dame in 1950, and received an MS in Retailing from NYU in 1952. He worked for R.W. Pressprich as a securities salesman for nine years and then in 1963 founded John Hood & Co., Inc. working as a mortgage broker until retiring in 1989. In retirement he developed a passion for collecting American folk art. He was an avid skier for eighty years and an active fencer for thirty years.

He loved his family most of all -- his wife of 49 years Laima Sileikis, brother Emmett, children Lucy (1958-2014) (Rob), Katherine, Sarah, and John, grandchildren Rachel (Jeff) and Ben, and his great-granddaughter Lucy.
