Teresita “Capulí” Castro left us with countless memories. About to turn 96, she led a full live and died peacefully in her own bed, in her studio and in the city she loved leaving behind her daughter Patricia. A Special Education teacher in NYC public schools, she continued to teach even after retiring at a Senior Center well past her 90th birthday. She was a tireless defender of Human Rights, an ambassador of the Andean Arts and Culture, generous to a fault and always with a smile on her lips. She was eternally grateful to life, as she would continuously sing Violeta Parra’s “Gracias a la Vida”.
