Painter,(born May 25, 1936 in Pensacola, Florida) died peacefully, surrounded by family on June 15th, 2025, in NYC. He was a member of the Third Generation of Abstract Expressionists, known for his innovative color exploration. He became an icon to many painters with his commitment to the advanced work of The New York School, and believed painting to be one of the most powerful means of human expression. Though highly influenced by Mondrian, he always considered himself a gestural painter. He has work in most major public and private collections including the Whitney, MOMA, and Guggenheim Museums in NYC.He exhibited internationally and was represented for many years by the Elizabeth Harris Gallery, NYC.
