Obituary of Maria Kazan

Maria Antoinette (Ciupak) Kazan passed away tragically on June 5, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on April 14, 1945, Maria moved from Poland to New York in December 1965 with her mother and siblings. She carried with her a timeless elegance, a vibrant spirit, and an unwavering belief in the beauty of life and love. Maria had a gracious heart, and her parting words—“I wish you well”—were never just a phrase, but a reflection of her genuine kindness and deep care for others. She found joy and inspiration in the arts, and her strong faith was central to her life—she attended Mass daily at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where she found peace, strength, and connection to something greater than herself.

Maria is survived by her son Roman, his wife Valerie, and their son Jude; her daughter Zofia; her siblings Urszula, Stanley, Elizabeth, and Julie; her cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Michel, her mother Bronislawa, father Wladyslaw and her brother John.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 10:00am at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
