Obituary of Sergio Bigini

Sergio Bigini, beloved father, uncle, and grandfather, passed away on March 5th, 2025 in New York City. He is survived by his two children, Lucia and Luca.

Sergio was a wonderful, loving and ever-curious father who lived a long, full life of endless travels, adventures and hard work. His stories span 90 years of incredible experiences beginning in World War 2, his time in the Italian Navy, his journeys on a cruise ship that went (literally) around the world and back 4 times, his time living and working in London, in Milan and then moving definitively to New York, a city that could satisfy his passions for culture, art, food, cinema and people.

He spent many years working for Central Holidays as vice president of the groups department, where he poured his love of travel into carefully crafting and curating travel itineraries for the most authentic experiences for his clients. He was loved and known by all as a kind, charismatic, enthusiastic and cultured leader.

Although his work took him abroad often, Sergio was a present, devoted and affectionate father who over the years generously and successfully set a high bar for culture, traveling and love.

He was happiest when in front of a plate of good food, or a bottle of excellent wine, or while reading one of his countless books about one of the countless topics that fascinated him; contemplating the ocean or a Caravaggio painting. If shared with good company, even better.

One of the roles that brought Sergio most joy and pride was that of a doting grandfather to his grandson Franco and granddaughter Maddalena, who will continue hearing about their nonno's young-at-heart nature, adventurous spirit, and generosity for many years to come.

For all those who knew and loved Sergio and wish to say goodbye, a celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 11-1.
