Obituary of Joel Dictrow

Joel Paul Dictrow, 79 years old, living in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, died peacefully at home on July 6, 2024, after living with dementia in the last stage of his life. Joel was born on December 7, 1944 to Marilyn Rose Dictrow and Herman Dictrow in New York, NY. After earning a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, he then earned a  Master’s degree in Taxation Law from NYU School of Law. His first job was at CBS Tax Department. After eight years, he moved to Citigroup as a Tax Attorney until he retired 25 years later. In 1975 he married Zoë Walker and welcomed 7-year-old David Walker as if he were his own son. Joel is survived by his brother Robert Dictrow and nieces Jill Asars and Lori Fisher, and their children, his wife Zoë Dictrow, stepson David Walker and wife Ada and their children Skylar Jean and Benjamin Charles. Joel was a passionate collector of contemporary art and enthusiastic world traveler. He and Zoe took particular delight in attending international art fairs and nature trips to remote places, including Antarctica and Pantanal, Brazil.  In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to be made to:  Calvary Hospital
