Obituary of Mercedes Cea

Our beloved mother Mercedes Cea, born in El Salvador on October 8th, 1937 entered into eternal rest on October 13th, 2023. Mercedes, wife of Mario Sr who passed away in 1997, was a long-time resident of the Bronx upon emigrating to the United States. A master embroiderer and seamstress who when offered the position of running the school she graduated from in El Salvador, turned it down to pursue her dream of living in New York. In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, Mercedes was an accomplished award-winning cake baker and small business owner. A true artist sought after for her talents, she ran her cake baking business from the family home, ultimately opening her own stand alone bakery.
A strong and loving mother, with the ultimate goal of ensuring her children were educated, she put all her children through private school and encouraged higher education. She realized her dream of seeing her three children graduate from college.
She is survived by her daughter Ana and husband Lawrence, her son Mario Jr, her daughter Sonia, and by her grandchildren Xavier, Gabriella and Alexa.

Mi más sentido pésame en estos momentos tan difíciles les deseo a los hijos, nietos y seres queridos de Doña Mercedes. Doñita, nunca olvidare la bondad y cariño con cual siempre me recibías cuando visitaba su hogar. Me hiciste sentir parte de su familia y nunca me dejaste pasar de hambre. Que descanses en paz Doña Mercedes.
