Alberto Mario Da Silva Leal passed away on May 12, 2023. Alberto was born in Arruda dos Vinhos, Portugal March 6, 1939 and lived in Brazil, and Montreal before ending up in NYC where he lived for over 50 years. He met his wife Jeannette at the World Fair in Flushing and they settled down in Greenwich Village near a small Portuguese community.
He loved sharing his knowledge of politics, history, religion, holistic medicine and music; his daughter says he inspired her to listen, question and learn. He loved animals, his daughter remembers growing up with cats, fish, a Guinea pig and a parrot. Alberto received a degree from the University of Montreal and continued his studies at New York University in 1975. His career includes working for TAP Air Portugal, in engineering and land surveying for various corporations and finally for NYC Human Resources Administration where he retired as a Disaster Recovery Coordinator. He is missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife Jeannette and his two daughters Alyssa and Erika.
