Obituary of Constantino Daniel Leon Romero

April 8, 2023

Constantino Daniel Leon Romero, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away in New York City the morning of April 8th, 2023. He was the son of the late Ernesto Leon Moya and Teresa Romero Salazar of Quito, Ecuador. He is survived by his beloved wife Rosalia Agresti, cherished children Ronald, Claudia, and Rebecca and treasured grandchildren Violet and Lily. Daniel grew up in Quito, Ecuador before immigrating to New York at 23 years old, where he met his late first wife Gloria and had his children Ronald and Claudia. Wanting a better life for his family, Daniel decided to leave his job at Steinway Piano and try for a job at Citibank with his accounting degree. He ended up working for Citibank for 30 years, reaching the title of VP of operations, a feat he was enormously proud of. During his tenure at Citibank he met his wife Rosalia and had his youngest child Rebecca, spending the last 34 years of his life on the Upper West Side. Daniel was an adventurous man who loved the best things in life, including but not limited to: travel, food, music, dancing, Italian leather goods, watches, plants, The New York Mets, and western movies. However nothing could surmount the love he had for his children and his family, which extended from Ecuador to Italy (of which he was a proud citizen) to Germany. Daniel had a bright and full life that will never be forgotten, but that we can only try to live on in his memory with his laughter and smile in the forefront of our minds.

Daniel also leaves behind his sisters Cecilia and Juanita, several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Friends and family are invited to attend the wake on Wednesday April 12th, 2023 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm at the Greenwich Village Funeral Home on 199 Bleecker St, New York, NY 10012. He will be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Jackson Heights, Queens, where his New York journey first began.
