Obituary of Meredith Suzanne Elliott

Meredith Suzanne Elliott, 52, of New York City, passed away on January 7, 2023 of apparent heart failure.

Meredith was born on June 21, 1970, to Phil and Gretchen Elliott in West Allis, Wisconsin. She studied English and Political Science as an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin and earned her law degree at the University of Wisconsin Law School. After graduating, she moved to New York City and began her legal career at the Seward & Kissel law firm. Meredith later worked for a number of institutions including the Foundation for Young Orphans, E+Co, BNY Mellon, and Columbia University. Beginning in 2016, she also served as an active board member of the Epic Theatre Ensemble.

Meredith was passionate about making the world a better place. She volunteered her time and resources to the arts, food pantries, and an elephant refuge in Cambodia. She adored her dogs and walking them, had recently discovered bird watching, practiced hot yoga, and frequently engaged in long conversations with friends and family. Meredith enjoyed watching tennis and attending the US Open every year. She also loved hot sauce and horror movies. She was known for her quick wit, mischievous smile, fearlessness, and generous and compassionate spirit.

Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Gretchen Elliott, and her sisters Kendal Elliott- Dezego and Leslie Cook. She is survived by her sister Jillian Elliott and her beloved nephews Brandon Cook, Justin Cook, and Philip Elliott-Dezego and her brother-in-law, Rob Dezego.

A Celebration of Life was held on January 21, 2023, at the Greenwich Village Funeral Home. Donations in Meredith’s name can be made to the JDRF, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, American Cancer Society, American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation, or the Elephant Valley Project.
