Obituary of Kosse J. Joseph Laureano-Zuraitis

August 9, 2022

Kosse J. Joseph Laureano Zuraitis, born May 8, 2005, passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2022.  He is survived by his mother, Stephanie Laureano Blount, father, John Zuraitis, sister Santana Alexis Laureano Blount, maternal grandmother, Sandra Lamb, maternal uncle, Antonio (Tony) F. Wright.

Paternal family members, aunt, Cheryl Werner, uncle, James Zuraitis (Marita), aunts Susan Burton (Thomas), Karen Quadrato (Randy) and a number of cousins.

He was predeceased by paternal family members, uncle, Edward Zuraitis, aka “Be Bop” (Donna), grandparents, Edward and Rosemary Zuraitis.

Kosse was a phenomenal skateboarder and was much loved by his large skateboarding community including the skateboarder’s mother’s group (Skate Moms) as well as a multitude of other friends.  He was a much respected and admired student at Millennium High School in New York City and would have begun his senior year this September.  Last year he discovered, through beloved uncle Tony, an interest and talent for photography.  His photos, like his other endeavors were outstanding.

The outpouring of support the family has received from his friends, classmates, teachers (elementary and high school) is a testament to his kindness, empathy and decency.  Kosse was also an adventurous, inquisitive free spirit.  He had a (sometimes) “dry” sense of humor that would keep you laughing for days.  He and his sister, Santana, who he cherished, loved and respected, even when those typical sibling storm clouds would appear, were keen to pull a hilarious joke on Mom that we still chuckle at today.

Kosse loved his mom and dad and delighted in the travel and other exciting, interesting experiences he had with both of them.

The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of sympathy and support during this very difficult time.

Kosse was one of the first people I talked to when I started Kindergarten at PS171 over 10 years ago and we became close friends since. He was the most kindest and funniest person I’ve known. And I am so devastated that your not here anymore. RIP
